Stratics.com started in 1997 as a community site for gamers and the gaming industry.
With new ownership, a desire to update the architecture and looks as well as relations of each subdomain encompassed the contracting of outside sources to customize a theme and create artwork. I became involved about half way through the entire project.
Taking all parts and bringing them together with support from technical staff, a new and up-to-date instance of WordPress-Multisite was installed on the hosted server. The process of migrating subdomains from the old WP to the new version commenced, including a lot of CSS tweaking, image creation, content massaging and finally testing, testing, testing. The new look (pictured below) was launched with core subdomains migrated by the community's 16th anniversary deadline in October, 2013.
Various elements of CSS and artwork were created for the site during implementation:
Customized cogs encompassing the logos of supported games were made to match the overall "steampunk" style from supplied artwork. CSS was then implemented from theme developer in multiple areas to make the cogs spin upon rollover. Cogs are resized & used in varying ways throughout the site.
